The Ketter Dales

ree

The Ketter Dales, the Ketter Dales

Left for not save only bells

Their downturned peddles are swaying

Ringing o’er the bodies laying

The fading dusk and waning sky

Why must the light, as all else, die?

The Ketter Dales, the Ketter Dales

Left for not save only bells

Sole sentients for leagues beyond

The count of mortal men now gone

The one who foretold this tale too

Is he buried among the true?

From Kilwen town, from Kilwen town

Their houses, faces, clothes all frown

There was no enemy or threat

That called the young and old to death

For not one spared, no unturned stone

What catalyst brings none back home?

From Kilwen town, from Kilwen town

Their houses, faces, clothes all frown

If only they had listened more

But scoffed they did as those before

He told them their time was waning

They believed that he was feigning

By Gauron Lake, By Gauron Lake

Three mast ship, the Golden Drake

Cargo hold bursting, yet no crew

Dock hands took as a payment due

To Highest bidder cargo sold

Filling purses with unearned gold

By Gauron Lake, By Gauron Lake

Three mast ship, the Golden Drake

Then abandoned out to anchor

Wisdom's counsel would have sank her

Cursed shipment, hex sealed, still stolen

Death belly laughed, his greed swollen

Upon Tor Peak, Upon Tor Peak

Shunned wise man sat and did not speak

This was not the work of his hand

Yet seen this before, in far land

Had they heeded him without strife

Reaped instead of curse, their life

Upon Tor Peak, Upon Tor Peak

Shunned wise man sat and did not speak

The fourth town he had been to now

He rose and stretched with somber bow

He glanced again at ship in harbor

Sails and hold full, weighing anchor

The Ketter Dales, The Ketter Dales

Now valleys of death as light fails

All towns were then conquered wholly

Avoidable if ship rolled slowly

But greed's toil works all the faster

When the devil is the master

The Ketter Dales, The Ketter Dales

Now valleys of death as light fails

Down the shore the lake meets river

Trees watch silent, timbers shiver

Even earth, rock, beast, bird, and snow

Flee ahead of this wooden foe
